There will be missed consequences or silly reasoning behind a team's argument and by learning to find them you'll find it will help in all forms of critical analysis in your life. The second thing people learn from debating is how to give an engaging public speech. Since debating relies on the ability to orally present your ideas in front of somebody critiqing your speaking style, you'll find yourself rapidly improving and quickly finding confidence in your speaking ability.
