The Dalhousie Dance Society, or DalDance is a student run society that provides high quality, recreational dance classes for dancers of every skill level. DalDance classes are a revitalizing respite for university students from their often hectic and stressful lives. The society’s objectives are to provide quality dance instruction that is convenient, accessible, and inexpensive for Dalhousie University students, faculty, staff, University of King's College students and Dalplex members, as well as to provide a meeting place for people with an interest in dance. You do not need any previous experience in dance to attend DalDance classes, only an interest in dance.

DalDance began in 1998 with no more than 30 members and offered only beginner and advanced level ballet classes. The society has grown substantially over the past several years and now has 200 plus members and offers classes in many styles of dance including: hip-hop, ballet, jazz, modern, highland, tap, contemporary and bellydance. The society offers beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes in almost all styles of dance. No other dance association in Halifax offers such a wide range of styles and levels of dance or is comprised of such a multi-cultural student body.

The DalDance Executive, Teachers, and Students come from every faculty and discipline at Dalhousie and King's; from philosophy to chemistry, economics to neuro-science, sociology to pharmacy, psychology to law. DalDance members come from all over Canada, North America and the world; comprised of students who are just entering their first year of university and those at the graduate level who are in the process of achieving a Masters or PhD. DalDance has a truly diverse identity.
