Just a reminder that tomorrow (January 31st) is the LAST day for council nominations! See below for details!

Here is a sample picture of what all our clothing looks like. The red squares show where the DalDance logo will go (it will be white on the dark color clothing and black on the light color clothing). There will be items in the Studley studio that you can look at for sizing and clothing feel. PLEASE PUT THEM BACK.

Mariah Hughes will be taking orders at the following times until Spring break:
Thursdays 9-11pm (Studley Studio)
Fridays 8-9pm (Studley Studio)
Saturdays 5-6:30 pm (King's Studio)
Sundays 4:30-5:30pm (King's Studio)
Wednesdays starting next week from 12:30-1:30 in the Killam Atrium

Also, water bottles are for sale as well for $7. They are not here yet, but are in limited quantity (only 50) so if you want to pay in advance Mariah Hughes can put you on a pre-sell list.

The schedule for Winter 2012 has FINALLY been finalized! The information given on December 4th still applies! IF YOU MISS THE FIRST 2 OF 3 CLASSES YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS! Make sure to bring your registration form and money to the Studley Studio on January 9th (11am-3pm), 10th (11am-2:30pm), or the 11th (11am-3-pm)!

If you would like to audition a piece for the show, e-mail your names, style of dance, and song choices to the daldance e-mail address (located on the contact page). Dances must be no longer than 3 minutes long and family friendly. Auditions will take place the week of February 9th-15th.

NOTE: For Salsa class only the first 16-17 girls that register for the class will be accepted! Due to the nature of the dance, there has to be a significant number of males for the show piece. Therefore, the overage of ladies will be wait-listed until the end of registration. So ladies, get there quick before all the spots are taken!

Hey Dancers!
So, yesterday was officially the last day for Daldance classes. Thank you all so much for your hard work this semester, it was so much fun! A few things about next semester:
Registration will take place on the first full week of classes, starting Monday the 9th to Wednesday the 11th in the Studley studio between 11 a.m to 3 p.m. If you miss the first 2 of 3 classes we will be forced to remove you from the class. We are getting ready for our show and we only allow 25 people per class so make sure you register early.
This year, we will be accepting more audition pieces for the show. You can audition your own piece (solo, duet, trio, group) on the week of February 9th-15th. Exact times will be given at a later date.
Nominations for next year’s council need to be in by January 31st! A teacher must nominate a dancer in order to be considered in the running!
BAKE SALE!!!! Our annual bake sale will take place sometime between February 13th-15th! We hope to have more involvement than last year. The funds raised for the bake sale will help us with money for costumes!

Hey Dancers!
The last official day of Daldance classes is November 26th! Make up classes are between November 27th to December 3rd and it is at the teacher's discretion whether those make-up classes shall take place.

Hello Dance Buddies!
This Monday, October 17th, we will be hosting our AGM meeting, at 6 p.m in room 303 in the Student Union Building!! The purpose of this meeting is to address any feedback/concerns you may have about the functionality of the society, and meet your council so we can give you a little insight to what is planned for the future. We will be serving Pizza and Pop and it's completely FREE!!!!

IMPORTANT: If you are interested in running for council in the future, then it is IMPERATIVE that you attend this meeting! It usually takes anywhere between 20-30 minutes so it shouldn't take up too much time in your day!

Welcome Back Dancers!
The time has finally come for our fall classes to get underway! Registration will begin Wednesday, September 14th at the society fair on the second floor of the Student Union Building from 11 a.m - 3 p.m. Registration will continue on the 15th and 16th (Thursday and Friday) at the Studley studio during the same time! You MUST bring a registration form, your payment, AND you MUST have a valid B00#! Forms can be printed from the Classes section on this website.
The Schedule will be post really soon and we apologize for the delay. We are all super excited to see you in class and believe this will be our best year yet! See ya soon! .

Hey Summer dancers!
So so so so sorry about the class cancellations last Tuesday! It was quite a shock to council as well. Good news is that make-up classes will take place on August 16th for Jazz and Contemporary at their regular scheduled times. Hope everyone is enjoying their classes!



May 23rd, 2011

The time has come! Summer classes will finally begin on Tuesday, June 7th! Registration will take place IN CLASS on the day of your scheduled class. All classes are $25 and you MUST have exact change and registration forms completely filled out! Without these two essentials, your registration will NOT be accepted. Also, you must be registered/enrolled in Dalhousie University summer classes to participate in the Daldance classes for the summer months.

This is the official Daldance Schedule for Summer 2011:

Ballet: Tues- 6-7 p.m
Contemporary: Tues- 7-8 p.m
Jazz: Tues- 8-9 p.m
Tap: Thurs- 7-8 p.m

All classes are general classes and the difficulty level will depend on the student's comfortability in the classes. Classes will go until the August 11th (pending no classes are cancelled). Everyone is so excited to get moving again and we look forward to seeing all of our dancers again!

Hope everyone is doing/has done well on exams! Summer registration will begin sometime at the beginning of June! By now everyone must be going through dance withdrawals so your council is working hard to get all the details straight. Have a great summer everyone and hope to see you soon!

EXCITING NEWS FROM YOUR DALDANCE COUNCIL!

- DalDance will be hosting a Valentine's Day BAKE SALE on Wednesday, February 9, from 9am-2pm in the Dal SUB. Stop by for some yummy goodies and don't forget to tell you friends!

- Reading week: All dance class will be cancelled from Saturday, February 19 - Friday, February 25, unless you are informed otherwise by your teacher.

- DalDance will be having our annual show on Sunday, March 27th, 2011 at the Rebecca Cohen --AND WE WANT YOU, A DALDANCE MEMBER, TO NAME THE SHOW. PLEASE SEND YOUR IDEAS TO daldance@dal.ca by Tuesday, February 1. Winning name will receive a DalDance t-shirt and 2 tickets to the show!

- Extra Numbers : We have a limited number of spaces available for extra numbers in this year's show. We will be holding auditions for these spaces on Wednesday, March 2 from 9pm-10pm in the Studley studio. These pieces can be solo, small or large group numbers. Your piece does not have to be complete at this time, but you should have enough prepared to show us what you've got! :) If you would like to reserve a spot for an audition please e-mail daldance@dal.ca.

- Clothing Order forms: Please hand them in to your teachers by January 23. Make sure your name and e-mail address is written somewhere on the form and your payment is attached.

-Dalhousie Dance Society is seeking nominations for council members for the 2011-2012 school year. Any student who has been a member of DalDance for the last period is eligible to nomination and election.

-Nominations will begin now and close January 31.

-Upon closure of nominations, the Candidates & Nomination letters shall be posted so that they may be viewed by all Members (and/or emailed to all Members). Elections shall be held in class the third week of February by secret ballot, and a Treasurer shall be appointed.

-Positions Available are PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT, TREASURER, SECRETARY, MEMBER AT LARGE (Website Coordinator) and MEMBER AT LARGE (Show Coordinator). Note: Treasurer will be appointed by the outgoing council, all other positions will be elected by all Daldance members. Please view our constitution HERE for detailed descriptions of each position. Descriptions are also posted outside the Studley studio.
